"Brain Awareness Day" in Sri Lanka took place in November, the first time Brain Awareness Week activities have been held there.  This introductory programme in Basic Neuroscience was designed to raise the awareness of the brain and its potential applications in health and disease.

Brain Awareness Week 2009, "Causes and Effects of Injury to the Brain," took place in Damaturu, Nigeria. There were 3350 people in attendance for all the events organized. Participants included pregnant women, motorbike riders, secondary school students, healthcare practitioners, community partners and the public.

For the very first time, a community-based Neuro-Education project broke the ice and emerged as a captivating enigma in the eyes of the general Grenadian public, being supported and branded by the corporate sector, the people and Government of Grenada. Grenada is a tri-island nation comprising Grenada mainland, Carriacou and Petite Martinique.
